Their work makes a real difference to the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The patients cared for by their community nurse, the family helped to keep their home, people feeling safe in the city, teaching fire safety in schools, support for local business – these and countless other services make a positive, yet often unnoticed, impact on residents’ lives every day.
The aim of the awards:

"I was delighted to be invited to join the panel of judges for the 2009 Public Service Awards. It was fascinating to find out about the variety and breadth of public service being carried out by so many dedicated people across our city. These people often go about their work behind the scenes and yet make such a difference to the lives of those of us who live, work and run businesses here.
